Fit is really one of the most important aspects of personal style. You've got to wear what fits well and flatters your shape, not what's trendy or hanging from every rack.
San Francisco — Lorraine Sanders, founder and editor of SF Indie Fashion, is among the Who's Who of Bay Area journalists. For six years, she has regaled her readers with the latest news on Bay Area fashion. She was inspired to launch her fashion-forward blog because of a growth of interest in local independent fashion. There was no outlet for fashion enthusiasts to find information on emerging designers and new boutiques in the area, so with no formal knowledge on the fashion industry, Lorraine set out to give readers what they craved.
She has since become an expert on the topic, writing for leading publications including the San Francisco Chronicle, 7X7 magazine, and Refinery29 and covering a range of fashion from indie to mainstream. Now she has launched a new site called Digital Style Digest, which focuses on the mergence of fashion with technology.
I recently caught up with the savvy writer to discuss her latest venture and get the scoop on her favorite fashion meets tech emergences. Here's what she had to say:
TCS: With the success of SF Indie Fashion, what motivated you to launch Digital Style Digest?
LS: That's a good question and one I get asked often. In fact, I've wondered to myself about the wisdom of starting a completely new site many times over the last several months, I can't even tell you. Most importantly, I've been able to cover more and more stories related to fashion and technology over the last year, largely because of the explosion of activity we're currently seeing in the space.

Global — Who isn't on an eternal quest to find the perfect makeup? Whether it's long-lasting lipstick or flawless finish foundation, we can't get enough of the beauty prodcts that make us look and feel good. Recently, I had the most amazing opportunity to gather a group of agents and get acquainted with the brand called Motives, which happens to be a fave of starlets including Jennifer Lopez and Eva Longoria. They even have a line of products in collaboration with actress Lala Anthony, who is married to NBA player Carmelo Anthony.
When I first heard about the brand and their unique service of custom blend foundations and powders, I was ecstatic. I've been searching for a loose powder that would give me light coverage and a natural finish. Until my Motives representative Jessie of jvnsglamour.com custom blended a powder for me, I hadn't found one that didn't either make me look dusty and dull or like a ripe orange. Now don't get me wrong, orange is my fave color, just not for my face!

But I digress. The rep visited my headquarters, bringing a cornucopia of beauty goodies. She brought the cosmetic counter to us! For two plus hours, she gave me and my agents makeovers and educated us on choosing makeup that worked for each of our skin tones and complexions. At the end of her informative consultaion, I wanted to try almost everything and coudn't resist indulging myself with a few products including the custom blend loose powder and Kabuki brush for application; the Perfect Face Primer that has a silky texture, making it a great canvas for applying my powder. I also tried the khol eyeliner in Sterling Silver (a graphite color) and invested in a pair of faux eyelashes to wear on special occasions.
The loose powder, which has become an ultimate favorite of mine already, is mineral based and comes in an uber chic square acrylic container. I watched as it was custom blended with tonal base and highlight powders with monikers like Sandstone, Amber, and Jade. I also requested a smidge of bronzer in my powder. Also blended in were SPF and moisturizer, in powder formula of course, with an option of sheer, medium, or full coverage. It was medium for me!
