Global — Fall is right around the corner and soon we'll be shopping for fall favorites from outerwear to accessories. Lately I've been scouring online to find inspiration for looks to try this coming season. One collection that particular stood out from the rest was the Prada Fall 2012 RTW show held in Milan this past February.
For the show, lithe models styled with long locks and Goth-inspired makeup were fashioned in menswear influenced ensembles, softened with dainty details including embroidery, beading, and crystal embellishments; a look Wednesday of the “Addams Family” would have loved, had she a penchant for high-end fashion.Raso Ricamo satin top handle bag, $5,500.
This collection is about the pleasure of fashion. – Miuccia Prada
If pleasure was the theme, Prada delivered doses of it via structured designs, vintage-inspired accessories, and luxurious fabrics. It was a lesson in indulgence with crushed velvet, silk embroidery, and jacquard prints that were reminiscent of 60s psychedelic patterns.
The collection was highly stylized. Belted suits with jewel-laden lapels were paired with deep-cuff cigarette pants. Cropped coats resembled the Eisenhower jacket and outerwear look like loungewear. There was a subtle nod to Middle Eastern fashion with coats layered over skirts, layered over pants and some looks featured a mix of multi-scaled jacquard prints in everything from suits to scarves. The color palette ranged from dark and neutral to bright and bold.
Bicolor patent leather Mary Jane pumps, $950.
The accessories were lavish in silk, patent leather and decorated with crystals. The framed handbag had several variations from large and square to small and round; and the shoes were an updated version of the classic Mary Jane with cross straps, wedged heels, and bicolor burnished leather. The aesthetic of the Prada collection was a pleasing exhibition of the art of melding classic with contemporary.
