[tps_header]For twelve Academy of Art University School of Fashion M.F.A. designers, dreams came true when their spring 2015 collections debuted at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center. It was another full house for AAU’s show. The audience was packed with industry press, world-famous fashion icons such as celebrity photographer Nigel Barker and supermodel Shaun Ross, and of course, proud families and friends of the designers. As the last look exited the runway – the lights came up for the finale walk, and the designers took a bow – the theater erupted into applause. Everyone in the audience held up their cell phone cameras, snapping away as the last looks passed by. Excitement also filled the backstage with the designers hugging each other. Although the show is over, it’s just the beginning for these twelve talented designers.[/tps_header]

Academy of Art University kicked off its tenth season showing at New York Fashion Week with a stunning linen and knitwear collection designed by Mia Jianxia Ji. Inspired by Ana Rajcevic’s art collection, Mia used the texture of knitted fabrics to evoke the shapes and feelings of a unique visual interpretation of animal anatomy, suggesting strength, power and sensuality that takes humanity together through the shared journey of evolutionary fantasy.
