va Mendes has a new baby (with Ryan Gosling) and a new fall collection (with New York & Company). We may not have been on the scene for the former but we were all over the latter at the stores flagship on 58th & Lexington in New York. The Eva Mendes Fall 2014 Collection, which has evolved drastically from its original introduction in September 2013, is the second collaboration between the actress and the fashion brand. Mendes, known for her understated yet classic fashion sense, has long been on our style radar before she added the title “designer” to her resume. Whether it’s her fitted pencil skirts or slinky dresses, she’s definitely made the fashion community stand up and take notice. Mendes’ sultry look is coveted by celebs and everyday people alike, so much so that Gosling’s mother made headlines last June after wearing one of the star’s gowns to a red carpet event. Further proving the point that Mendes’ style is timeless.
Inspiration for the current collection is femininity with vintage sex appeal, and is drastically different and more refined than the original. The pieces range from cabernet-dyed tea length dresses to vegan leather pencil skirts and matching knit tops. The color palette is rich with an abundance of deep reds and pinks, sprinkled with polka dot and florals prints. One of our favorite looks include the oxblood vegan leather skirt with matching victorian lace top (above).
