Create A “Star Wars” Inspired Bun

Create A “Star Wars” Inspired Bun

January 20162420Views

When it comes to blockbusters, Star Wars takes top notch this season. Everyone else may be taking note of the storyline, new cast of characters, and special effects, but I’m reveling in the statement styling.

Those iconic buns from the original film in 1977 are unforgettable, so much so they’ve even made appearances on the runway. The twin buns on each side of the head may not be easy to wear, but a similar top not (reminiscent of a ballerina bun) might be the style trick to capture the essence of Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher).

The key to a bodacious Star Wars bun inspired by Princess Leia is a good light-weight holding pomade such as Bumble and Bumble Semisumo, $29. It will keep the flyaway in place so that your bun is sleek all day.

How-to tips:

  • Apply small amount of pomade in hands and smooth on hair paying close attentions hair edges.
  • Then brush hair up to crown of head and gather hair into a ponytail band.
  • Next, wrap scrunchy or hair bun ring around ponytail atop of the hair band.
  • Now, tuck hair beneath scrunchy or hair bun ring all around until a bun is formed, pinning in place with hair pins.

Voilà, a cinema bun to go!
