The 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards: Starlets Gone Stylish

The 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards offered a bevy of glamorous and not-so-glam starlets and their leading men. Here are just a few of our favorite red carpet looks. Images copyright © Steve Granitz for wireimage.com.

Drew Barrymore (Never Been Kissed, 50 First Dates, Music and Lyrics) is adorned in a flowing soft pink Christian Dior gown by John Galliano, reminiscent of the glamorous Hollywood of the past that the name Barrymore evokes.

Jennifer Hudson (American Idol, Dreamgirls) not only garnered a best supporting actress Golden Globe for her role as Effie White in Dreamgirls but she gets kudos for style as well in her Vera Wang gown. The empire waist style is flattering to Hudson’s curvacious figure and the short, slightly puffy sleeves add a bit of girly femininity.

Reese Witherspoon (Legally Blonde, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde, Walk the Line) exudes perkiness in her sunshine-yellow Nina Ricci gown. Paired with her strappy red heels, Witherspoon’s bold yet fun look says she is ready for a bright new year as a bachelorette.

America Ferrera (Real Women Have Curves, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) may not be taking her first stroll down the red carpet, but her new role as Betty Suarez on Ugly Betty garnered her an award for best television actress in a comedy and brought her to the red carpet in style wearing a waist-cynching sapphire gown by Brian Reyes.

Renee Zellweger (Bridget Jones’ Diary, Miss Potter) is brilliant in her emerald green cocktail dress. The vintage Dior strapless dress is simple yet elegant with criss-cross detail at the breast line that creates a layered appearance to her gown.

Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives) is dazzling in her navy dress by Emanuel Ungaro. The deep rich blue detailed with light blue floral trim creates a sophisticated look for the petite actress.

Little ladies were all glamour as well, as exhibited by Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine). Abigail is adorned in a taffeta teal gown lined by tulle. Her silver purse and shoes add just the right touch for this little starlet.

Couples were equally as chic on the Golden Globes’ red carpet.
We had two favorites here at styleology 101:

Will Smith (Men In Black, Pursuit of Happyness) in his black tuxedo with satin lapel and Jada Pinkett Smith (The Matrix Revolutions, Collateral) in her peach Armani Privé gown with horizontal pleats are a stylish dynamic duo.

Ben Affleck (Daredevil, Hollywoodland) in a classic suit and Jennifer Garner (Elektra, Alias) in a beaded white vintage Gaultier gown are the quintessential ‘it’ Hollywood couple.

BEST DRESSED

Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby, Freedom Writers) has done it again. Always elegant and sleek, Swank is old Hollywood glamour in her Chanel Haute Couture black gown accented with bows. The 53-carat diamond-studded floral hair clip adds just the right glitz for a stroll on the red carpet.

WORST DRESSED

Vanessa Williams’ (Ugly Betty) Carmen Marc Valvo gown is doable but the poofy hair and fur jacket brings to mind the phrase, “Lions and tigers and bears! Oh my!”
