San Francisco — It was a festive night at the Benefit Cosmetics boutique on Fillmore. The event was a Gilt City indulgence that I couldn’t resist signing up for and it was well worth the $50 ticket price that sold out quickly. Walking into the ultra feminine boutique, decorated with inspirational mantras on the wall like “Laughter is the best cosmetic … so grin and wear it” and “Looking good is the best revenge,” had me all aglow. I labored over what I would try first; a makeover to get dramatic holiday eyes, brow waxing so I could have a shapely arch, or just mingling with other guests – sipping citrus cocktails and nibbling cream-filled gingerbread cookies.
Since I was dying to rev up my eyes, I had to immediately take a seat in one of the many makeup artist chairs, where I was given an array of beauty tips, from applying liquid liner for a cat-eye effect to using creaseless shadows to make the eyes pop. Then it was off to the brow waxing station where I had my first waxing experience. It wasn’t the ouch I thought it would be. It was actually an adrenaline boosting experience and the result was a pair of to-die-for brows with the perfect arch.

From there, it was time to mingle, and of course, shop. I didn’t have to splurge too much. The ticket to the event included a $40 shopping voucher, $10 gift card for Gilt City, and a chance to win a raffle valued at $350. Plus there were a bevy of giveaways including a purse size Badgal Lash mascara, a travel size Total Moisture Face Cream, and a full size Porefessional.
It was definitely a delish deal well-worth the price. It was the perfect party to kick off the holiday season.
