Lanvin Fall 2012 Collection during Paris Fashion Week
Paris — Color was the name of the game for the Lanvin Fall 2012 Collection presented during Paris Fashion Week. Lithe models sashayed down the catwalk wearing a kaleidoscope of colors in brilliant hues running the gamut from persimmon orange to electric blue. It's as if creative director Alber Elbaz used 30s and 40s Henri Matisse paintings for inspiration, but rather than the harmony of Matisse's bold landscapes, there is more of a dissonance, like Vincent Van Gogh captured in his works.
There is also a cornucopia of luxurious textiles including lace overlays and painted silks. When the clothing took a ride in the neutral lane, most notably black and white, vibrant color was used to accessorize the look; oversized gemstone pendants, long leather gloves, and plush furs filled the colorless void.
