Global — British fashion designer Alexander McQueen is to fashion what Michael Angelo is to art – a master; his muse is art, nature, and history while the female silhouette serves as his canvas. There is no denying that McQueen is one of the most prolific designers of the 21st century.

If ever there is a debate over whether fashion is art, one need merely to look at the works of McQueen to illustrate the artistic relevance of fashion, with his penchant for juxtaposing light with dark. Although his future brilliance was silenced due to his death in 2010, McQueen's avant garde voice will continue to echo through the collections he created since he hit the fashion scene more than a decade ago.
In homage to the perennial designer's genius, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York introduced an exhibition entitled, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, in May. It was a compilation of the late designer's most beautiful creations. Check out the video below to watch highlights from the exhibition.
