Los Angeles — My latest mission has me checking out the looks that hit the red carpet for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards last night. The stars were out in full force at the Staples Center to see who would take home a silver astronaut on the moon. Many looks that hit the red carpet were a shock; I've come to believe that perhaps musicians are given carte blanche to dress badly at award shows, since they do it so frequently. However, there were some hits. Two songtresses wore winter, quite chicly I must add. Taylor Swift sported a J. Mendel suite paired with strappy Tom Ford sandals. Rihanna donned a custom dress from her stylist Adam Selman accessorized with Neil Lane earrings and Jacqui Aiche rings.
