NEW YORK — Spotted, lovely girl Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) fashioned in a bow-embellished headband bidding adieu to her fellow Manhattanites. It was an enchanted journey we took with our favorite Upper East Side "it" girl, known affectionately by her minions as Queen B. Blair ushered in a new era of style, where it's uber chic to sport crested blazers, don silk argyle stockings, and wear headbands decorated with feathers, flowers, and jewels. The reign of this Upper East Sider has come to an end, but the Big Apple hasn't seen the last of fashion forward "it" girls.
There's a new girl in town and she's about to ruffle a few closets with her retro wardrobe. With Eric Daman putting his midas touch on "The Carrie Diaries" closet – like he did for "Gossip Girl" – Carrie Bradshaw (AnnaSophia Robb) is sure to be eclectic and head-to-toe glitz, 80's style. Remember Carrie's (Sarah Jessica Parker) style from "Sex and the City" featuring cute tees with quirky sayings, brightly colored tutus as skirts, and whimsical accessories like her signature necklace? Well, some of "that" Carrie is in "this" Carrie as well. We've already been given a sneak preview of her look inlcuding sequin frocks, print sweaters, and a signature bag with her name emblazoned across the flap. Not sure if the young Carrie Bradshaw is going to be crazy about shoes like her future self, but I think her Jackson Pollock-influenced bag with paint splatters, might ignite a new handbag trend!
I'm elated to welcome a new screen queen, so much so, I'm having a "Carrie Countdown" starting New Year's day, where I'll predict what 80s looks will be revived courtesy of our trés chic Carrie Bradshaw. Stay tuned!
Chicly Yours,
