Ombre coats, slouchy tissue sweaters, and gauzy dresses are just a few of the looks that graced the Burberry Prorsum Spring 2009 runway show in Milan. The fabrics were gauzy, silky, and metallic with plenty of details from pleats and crinkles to belts and bows.
Ombre was a prominent look in the collection on coats, dresses, even pants. The look is seen here in three outerwear options from a classic trench to a cropped three-quarter sleeve swing jacket.
Slouchy tissue sweaters were abundant. Remember yor grandfather’s oversized cardigan that was banded at the bottom, that’s what these resemble. Although the look is oversized and slouched, the soft sheer fabric keeps it figure flattering.
Burberry didn’t forget their trademark plaid as seen here in gauzy A-line dresses. The plaid pattern is soft and subtle in neutral hues such as beige, ivory, and tan.
There were also dresses with lavish fabric details like a brocade pattern, crinkled texture, and a shimmery metallic. The silhouettes were straight, tubular and A-line.
There were Cropped pants with belted waist bands that folded over. The look is like a classic man trouser meant to look oversized and slouchy with details like buckled belts and bows.
Textured coats were also prominent in some of the same fabrics as the dresses like brocade and crinkle textures. The coats were designed in classic and retro silhouettes such as trench and swing.
There was a bevy of accessories in animal patterns like alligator, crocodile, and snakeskin — chunky bracelets, foldover clutches, and handbags were all fashioned from theses exotic textiles. There were also floppy bucket hats, scrunched up knee socks, and oversized square beaded necklaces.
