The Funny Lady Is On the Run In Her Latest Movie
GLOBAL — Funny lady Melissa McCarthy‘s latest film Tammy hits the big screen July 2nd, just in time for the 4th of July weekend. In the comedy, McCarthy plays a recently fired fast food worker who discovers her husband is a philanderer. As a result of her recent bad luck in work and in love, Tammy decides to take a road trip with her grandmother, played by Susan Sarandon.
In the process of making a quick getaway, Tammy will have to make do with what she has on hand when it comes to fashion, but that doesn’t mean a great escape can’t be fashionable. Packing for a weekend getaway is very strategic. Having a pre-packed bag, ready for those impromptu missions, is travel savvy. Here are a few essentials for a “Tammy” inspired weekend getaway.
Comfy clothing make great getaway companions. Tammy loves her casual clothing, evident from her baggy crop pants, oversized Mahalo t-shirt, and rubber crocs. But comfy can be cute too! Products to try: Old Navy Women’s Gold Foil Americana tee, $16.94; Alice and Olivia narrow rolled cuff cargo pant, $242; and Armani Jeans jelly colorblock sandal, $130.
Kitschy accessories add a playful look to your ensemble. After a stint in the fast food industry, Tammy probably has tons of work gear to put in her to-go bag. But you don’t need a hat from a burger joint to pay homage to this look. Product to try: Moschino iPhone 5 case, $85, from Runway Capsule Collection FW 2014 Preview.
Headgear is a must, whether you’re trying to be covert or want to keep cool. Tammy sports a paper bag in the film, but a fedora might be sleeker. Product to try: Vince Camuto metal accent fedora, $34.
A carry all bag is a must for your travel arsenal. Tammy might prefer the car trunk for stashing her goods, but something a bit more portable, and of course chic, is the way to go. Product to try: Floto Imports Piana tote in Tuscan Red, $329.
