When classic literature is adapted for film, it can be an amazing experience to catch it on the big screen. The latest book-to-film adaption on my radar is Far From the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy. The film stars Carey Mulligan (The Great Gatsby) as Bathsheba Everdene, an independent woman living in the 19th Century. In an era when women are relegated to standing in the shadows of men, she’s beguiled three very different gents including a sheep farmer (Matthias Schoenaerts), a sergeant (Tom Sturridge), and a wealthy older man (Michael Sheen).
