Washington, D.C. — Fashion Fights Poverty, a non-profit organization that promotes and supports fashion industry professionals taking initiatives to help alleviate poverty, is hosting its 6th annual benefit on October 15th. The fashion event will feature designers who use sustainable materials, are eco-friendly, or socially responsible in their business practices, and are cruelty free.

The collections shown will be from Pakistani designer Nomi Ansari, who’s design s are sold across the globe in Dubai, India, United Kingdom and United States; Chez Kevito, who handcrafts clothing, jewelry, and accessories using mostly recycled clothing to include used woven necktie dresses, repurposed tshirts and denim, as well as used men’s shirts and pants; and Crooked Monkey, whose desigjns can be sold in retailers such as Urban Outfitters and Nordstrom, and sported on celebrities such as Miley Cyrus and Ryan Seacrest.

For entertainment, songtress Matisse — a former member of the twin duo Brit & Alex, who has worked with artists such as Dallas Austin and Ne-Yo — will perform. [Fashionfightspoverty.org]
