“I think fashion items from flea markets are the cutest.”
Indonesia — Recently, Polyvore members competed in the Prêt-á-Party contest to create the ultimate chic outfit that The Chic Spy could adorn to a fabulous fête in the South of France. Many entered the contest and created crave-worthy looks, but it was narrowed to three winners.
First place winner is Daniella, an 18-year-old, recent high-school grad. Daniella, who lives in Jakarta, describes her hometown as, “the most crowded city one will ever meet in Indonesia.” Currently, she is prepping to enter college for fashion design and finds inspiration from past fashions.
“I love wearing comfortable clothes that fit me well and reflect my personality, and I think fashion items from flea markets are the cutest. I have such a huge fondness for vintage,” she says.
The Chic Spy caught up with the aspiring designer to discuss her love for fashion.
The Chic Spy: How long have you been a member of Polyvore?
Daniella: I’ve been a Polyvore member for about two years. Actually, I have two accounts on Polyvore, one of them is for creating sets for certain contests like official Polyvore contests.
TCS: What do you like most about creating sets on Polyvore?
Daniella: What I like most about creating sets on Polyvore is that I can cultivate my creativity in such a fun way! Also, the fact that when I browse clothing I can see what the hottest fashion trends are in that moment.
TCS: Besides creating cute looks on Polyvore, what do you do for fun?
Daniella: Though I’m still learning, I really like drawing fashion design. I read fiction and a lot of comic books too. Lately, I have watched so many horror movies with my cousins. Even so, I will never watch any of them all by myself, I think it can’t be considered as fun anymore.
TCS: What inspired you to want to be a fashion designer?
Daniella: When I was a 4th grader, my classmate lent me a comic book. It’s about a girl who pursues her dream of being a fashion designer. I got inspired immediately by her sweet yet tough characters and all the pretty dresses the author drew. At that time, I thought that being a fashion designer was a really fun job that required creativity and since then it’s become my dream job in the future.
TCS: Who is your favorite fashion designer?
Daniella: My favorite fashion designer is Consuelo Castiglioni. She’s the founder behind Italian fashion label, Marni. Oh, Marni is so much my taste! Consuelo Castiglioni truly creates the prettiest vintage-inspired clothing and such quirky yet comfy-looking designs.
TCS: What accessory can you not live without?
Daniella: Well, I think I can’t live without my bobby pins. They are really good at making any girl look more lovely and sweetly different just by a little touch of holding her hair in place.
TCS: What is your favorite beauty product?
Daniella: My favorite beauty product is a body mist my mom bought me. It’s Amber Romance by Victoria’s Secret. It smells amazing and very calming. I just love it!
TCS: What’s a favorite song playing on your iPod?
Daniella: I don’t have an iPod but there are tons of songs on my laptop. It’s really hard to choose one but I think it is “In My Place” by Coldplay. The song is really beautiful and emotional. Absolutely one of my all-time favorites.
I’m so proud of you sista! I know from the very beginning, you’re going to be the next big thing in fashion industry! You go girl, keep dreaming keep drawing! ^^
