“In the spirit of New Year resolutions, I resolve to reach out, via chic cards, to as many people as I can, especially to say thank you.”
Global — As a sartorial sleuth, I’m always searching for ways to look and live chic. As far back as I can remember, my grandmother and mother have ritually dispensed note cards to friends, families, and colleagues for a variety of occasions from thank yous and well wishes to birthday and wedding salutations.
As with everything else, occasion cards need to be chic. This means nice embellishments like cute floral designs, lovely illustrations, and the ultimate indulgence, monogramming — j’adore my initials on everything!
On my wish list are the William Arthur Wreath Monogram note cards (above) engraved with terra-cotta and fuchsia ink and matching envelopes lined in fuchsia.
Currently, in my extensive collection of cards, I have these amazing Paris-themed “merci” cards (below) from Cavallini & Co. that I picked up at a boutique in San Francisco. It’s a très chic way to say “thank you.”
A couple of friends gave me the perfect gift for sending out cards, an embosser that imprints the Phrase, “From the desk of The Chic Spy.” I will use the embosser on pretty silver metallic origami paper (gift from another friend) and insert the embossed sheets into these glitter-embellished Eiffel Tower cards.
Here are a few of my favorite haunts for chic stationery:
Cavallini & Co.
Crane
Horchow
Neiman Marcus
Papyrus
Swoozies
