Ask Isis: How Can I Jazz Up My Black Outfits?

Black is one of my favorite colors. I strongly believe that black clothes always make you look sophisticated, and yes, you read my mind, leaner! When wearing black, you can play with as many colors as you want but here is a little secret, you don’t need more than one; just add a touch of color and the result is going to be a less boring, yet elegant outfit.

For your black dresses, I would suggest belts in different colors such as red, purple, animal print or even bright yellow. Another way to play with your plain black outfit is to spice it up with a nice pair of tights. Color tights could be tricky to wear sometimes but they definitely give an instant lively look to any ensemble. Look out for seasonal colors, or go for a sheer leopard or lace pair. If you are not into the tights look, you can always add a touch of color with a scarf or even your purse.

And don’t forget about gold jewelry! The contrast between these two colors works great day or night. There are tons of short and long-layered necklaces, bracelets and cocktail rings out there. If you don’t want to go overboard, wear one or two jewelry pieces at the same time, but if you are going out at night don’t be afraid of embellishing with multiple jewelry pieces.

Always remember that the best thing about black is that it goes with everything! A touch of color on your shirt, sweater, shoes or even your make up will give you enough to look sophisticated and colorfully chic.

Stay Chic,
Isis
