New York Fashion Week Spring 2009 kicks off today with lithe models strutting their stuff down the runway wearing some of the most desired fashions from some of the hottest designers. The lineup today includes Rachel Roy, BCBG Max Azria, Perry Ellis, Nicole Miller, and the Academy of Art University.
Rachel Roy’s collection had a lot of energy and diversity with fabrics and prints ranging from silk and floral to knit and tribal. It looks like purple is back for another season and menswear, too, like a silk stripe pajama-like set (above). Couldn’t you see yourself lounging in these? They’re like your boyfriends only silkier and sassier.
I enjoyed this collection, it was simple, yet classy. Although the collection was not cohesive, each people was represented well like the color blocked dress with purple, black, and a green tropical print (right). I’m not sure if it’s the layers of pearly baubles (J’adore by the way), but something about this look reminds me of the roaring 20s and flappers. I see Rachel Zoe all over this look. What do you think?
Just check out these dressier looks above! Love them all. The cocktail dress on the left has an updated eyelet cutout pattern on the bubble style wrap skirt that covers the strapless tube dress — it adds flair to the tubular silhouette of the dress.
A sleeker look is in the vibrant violet dress with pleating at the neckline that extends down the dress. This look can hide a bevy of figure flaws especially in the tummy and hip area.
And, how chic is this slim-fitted, long sleeve shift dress with a French script that reads, “Être le change vous.” My French is a bit rusty but I think it means, “That which changes you.” It adds panache to an otherwise simple shift dress.
