New York Fashion Week Spring 2009 has come and gone and we had a sneak peak at what we might see in our favorites stores and boutiques this season. Colors like violet, electric blue, yellow and red; patterns such as polka dot, stripe, and floral; and styles like safari, bohemian, and grunge ruled the runway. But the looks that caught my eye are sure to inspire a few cool trends this spring:
Head-to-toe white looks were all aglow on several runways from hats, shoes, and shades to suits, dresses, and jackets. The designers who favored ultra bright white included Betsey Johnson, Calvin Klein, Michael Kors (right), Ralph Lauren (left), and Luca Luca.
There were vibrant prints galore especially frilly florals that ran the gamut from country to tropical. The designer runways that were blooming included Diane Von Furstenberg, Betsey Johnson, Nanette Lepore (right), Monique Lhuillier, Badgley Mischka (left), and Vivienne Tam.
The little black dress, a usual fashion staple, was sheer, lacy, and strappy — the textures reminded me of vintage lace curtains. Designers that featured the LBD included Caroline Herrera, Ralph Lauren, Monique Lhuillier (right), Badgley Mischka, Zac Posen, Tracy Reese (left), and Cynthia Rowley.
Brilliant brights are always a spring favorite and some of the colors to look for this season are orange, blue, violet, yellow, and hot pink. These vibrant hues lit up the runways of Carolina Herrera (left), Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Nanette Lepore, Monique Lhuilier, J. Mendel (right), and Tracy Reese.
Black and white shared the runway in fresh and flirty prints from horizontal stripes to geometrical shapes. Designers that jazzed up their collections with prints included Carolina Herrera, Michael Kors (right), Cynthia Rowley, and Vera Wang (left).
