Many people are unaware that heart disease is the leading cause of death in women. So after establishing February 1st as National Wear Red Day, the Heart Truth awareness campaign devised a plan to further this message. In 2002, with the charity’s red dress sketch logo as the muse, the Red Dress fashion show was born. Smack dab in the middle of New York Fashion Week, the first Red Dress fashion show consisted of some of the hottest A-listers strutting down the runway in gorgeous red dresses, which were later auctioned off. And what a success the show was! Six years later, the effort is still going so strong.

This year’s ladies in red included Fergie, Sheryl Crowe, Kim Cattrall and many more, who modeled gorgeous red creations compliments of top designers such as Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta and Donna Karan.
But don’t fret if you missed out on the action because the festivities are far from over. With the help of supermodel Heidi Klum and Diet Coke, you can be a red dress wearing diva too.

You’ll get the chance to enter a contest to win the red John Galliano gown Heidi will wear to the 2008 Academy awards. And for every entry they receive, Diet Coke will donate $1 to the Heart Truth campaign!
