London Fashion Week: House of Holland

J’adore! There was a fun and fresh air to the Henry Holland Spring 2009 Collection. Holland, who studied journalism in college and worked as a fashion editor before launching his own line, describes his designs as “fun, loud, and attention seeking” and credits gardens, television and old-school Courtney Love as his current inspiration. You could definitely see the garden influence, not only in the vibrant floral prints cascading down the runway, but also in the maze-like flower panels that served as a backdrop.

The highlight of this whimsical collection was the eclectic mix of looks from body-hugging sheer dresses to sleeveless babydoll tunics to cutout biker shorts. There were a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors and perky prints that created a certain Cirque du Soleil charm, melding florals with polka dots in black, white, lemon yellow, marigold, orange, and deep persimmon. Fun, fun, fun!
