CANNES — Every year this time, Hollywood glitterati jet-set off to France for The Cannes International Film Festival to preview new films from around the globe. Just as crave-worthy as the films are the chic looks that hit the red carpet. French actress Marion Cotillard wore Maison Martin Margiela during the photocall for her new film Deux Jours, Une Nuit (Two Days, One Night). The mini shift dress was embellished with flea market finds including miniature buttons, beads, screws, even remnants of beer cans.
It was a refreshing and fun look that was both flirty and whimsical. Paired with a peeop-toe ankle boot, the outfit was feminine, yet edgy. Before Marion Cotillard wore Maison Martin Margiela to Cannes, the dress was seen during Paris Haute Couture Week in January as part of Margiela’s spring/summer 2014 collection. Accented with a headpiece using the same embellishment materials and metallic gold boots, the runway look featured a more futuristic rather than playful aesthetic seen on Marion.
I’m so inspired by this look that I’m now on the hunt for a clutch embellished with similar bits and baubles.
Chicly Yours,
