New York — Fashion Week is always an exciting period for anyone who spends more time daydreaming about clothes than they do eating. For designers, its the platform to showcase how their ideas become reality. For editors, its time to pick what's hot and what's not. And for stylists (that's where I come in) its a time to plan ahead for what your client will be wearing next season.
Join me on my New York Fashion Week Fall 2012 excursion, which was jam packed with invites to the hottest shows and presentations.
Lauren Moffatt in Soho
With a playful mix of lace versus mini skirts and sequin versus floral prints, the Lauren Moffatt fall presentation was definitely cute, quirky, and flirty. She picked the perfect venue to display her designs, grade school style with a setup at the Old School for Wayward Girls in Soho, New York. The outerwear pieces were absolutely adorable and reminded me of a coat I had in my grade school days. Theyhad exactly enough flair to keep you feeling like a confident woman. This collection is definitely influenced by 60's vintage with Lower East Side flavor. I envision actress Joy Bryant rockin' this collection!

Rag & Bone in the Meatpacking District
Being seated on the front row during the mens show gave me a very up close glimpse of the season ahead for the coveted Rag & Bone line. Designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright delivered show-stopping pieces that made you wish fall 2012 was now. Although the color palette was muted with dark greys, midnight blues and cranberrys, the fusion of industrial ruggedness, flower motifs, bold stripes, finely tailored pieces and sharp details, could turn heads even in a dark room. Their British influence and sheer design genius, shines through in every collection. I can't wait to see my client, Carmelo Anthony drenched from head to toe in Rag & Bone for the fall.
The Rag & Bone womens show was definitely the place to be spotted. Celebrities and industry idols flocked to be seated and the first to see what David Neville and Marcus Wainwright were introducing for fall. The continuity between the mens and womens lines are definitely intentional, with the womens line mixing lace, paisley prints, stripes and fur. Signature wool pieces and countless layers complemented the men's line. These two shows were by far the highlight of my fashion week.
Simon Spurr at Milk Studios
During the Simon Spurr show, I always expect to find fine men's tailored suiting in great fabrics with bold prints. This season it was the exaggerated houndstooth on a grey suit. The colors were very simple and understated but the bold patterns, sleekly designed overcoats, and gator skin jackets gave the collection an unforgettable look.
