Since 2005, AAU grad students have featured fashion-forward collections; knitwear, silk, and leather included. The students selected are amongst the most talented in the MFA Fashion Design graduate program. The program is helmed by Executive Director Gladys Perint Palmer, famed journalist and illustrator dubbed "One of 500 people of influence in fashion since 1860" in "The Fashion Book" and Director Simon Ungless, who's fashion career includes working with Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, and Versace.
Part of our commitment to the designers is to help launch their careers and have their collections seen by as many industry professionals as possible. ~ Dr. Elisa Stephens, President of Academy of Art University
AAU is the only University whose students present their collections during the prestigious fashion event. For Fall 2012, eight women's wear collections and one men's wear collection made the cut, including two students who received their degrees from the online fashion program.
