GLOBAL — Who couldn't help but be in awe with First Lady Michelle Obama's gown for the inauguration ball. Her ruby red chiffon and velvet designer frock by Jason Wu, who also designed her dress for President Obama's first inauguration, was a beautiful exhibition of his work. Unfortunately, we can't all be regaled with custom designed fashions from Wu, but that doesn't mean we can't have a few of his confections in our wardrobe.
With the introduction of the Miss Wu Collection for Nordstrom, we too can enjoy his charismatic designs. The collection, featuring retro silhouettes with a modern twist, is light and fun with a classic simplicity reminiscent of the 1960s.
The collection features 60's style staples including a leather biker jacket, skinny pants, cashmere sweaters, and printed silk dresses. On-screen fashionistas from the era such as Laura Petrie (Mary Tyler Moore) of "The Dick Van Dyke Show" (1961), Ann Marie (Marlo Thomas) of "That Girl" (1966), and Edie Sedgwick – the real life muse to Andy Warhol – would definitely have found favor with this collection.
I can't wait to see what's next from the eponymous designer.
