NEW YORK — The most anticipated fashion event in New York has come to an end. But for one week, we were regaled with day-after-day of lithe models showcasing collections from myriad designers for fall 2013. Here's a recap of my faves to hit the runway such as Monique Lhuillier (above), which was chock full of gorgeous gowns in gemstone, metallic, and neutral hues. The collection had an air of Art Deco. The silhouettes flowed, the fabrics were luxurious, and the design details intricate.
Trina Turk exhibited a power woman collection with a touch of haberdashery and a 70s vibe. The collection featured full, slim, and crop-legged trousers. There were even trouser shorts. Statement accessories such as wide-brim fedoras and colorful leather gloves were chic accents.
Zac Posen showed an array of looks from the board room to the ballroom. There was a fitted boucle skirt suit accessorized with a fur scarf that I'm sure put a smile on Anna Wintour's face, and there were beautiful gowns with brocade designs and embellishments (like above) that were red carpet ready.
There was Old Hollywood glamour infused in the Jenny Packham collection. Long flowing fabrics were shimmery and sparkly with retro silhouettes. The color palette was mostly neutral with pops of rich color here and there.
There's an eclectic flair to the Ralph Lauren collection ranging from gypsy to sailor inspired looks. The fabrics were luxurious in velvet, silk, leather, and fur.
