WWW — Who doesn’t like to find the latest in designer accessories such as leather bags, silk scarves and metallic jewelry? I came across a chic online boutique called The Red Box that carries a bevy of beautiful designer items from around the world including bags by Modalu London, which Pippa Middleton sister to Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, has been seen carrying.
Recently, I caught up with the owner, Mojde Esfandiari to discuss designer wears and her boutique, here’s what she had to say:
The Chic Spy: When did The Red Box open and the website go live?
Mojde Esfandariari: December 2010.
TCS: What inspired the launch of The Red Box and how did you come up with the name?
ME: From my travels. I attended college in England and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris and it was then I found a love for fashion and accessories. I chose the name because I love red and thought it would be nice to receive a gift in a red bag or box.

TCS: How do you decide what to carry in your store?
ME: I look for unique, quality and value-enhanced items that are hard to find in the U.S.
TCS: What are your three most popular selling accessories currently?
ME: Texier cross body bags, Michel Le Brun vegetable-dyed silk scarves, and Incognita sterling silver necklaces.
The Red Box offers three fashion tips for looking chic this summer:
- Wear vibrant colors is key. White is hot too.
- Mix metallics like with jewelry.
- Carry a cross body messenger bag.
