San Francisco — The weekend kicked off with a parade of fashion during the 7th Annual Fashion On The Square at Westfield Shopping Centre. From little girl rompers to mens’ suits, the looks were fashionable and surprisingly wearable.
Charleston Pierce, who has been a Macy’s Passport model for more than 20 years, co-hosted the event with founder and creative director Y’Anad Burrell. There were special appearances by Bre from America’s Next Top Model cycle 5 and Jay Sario from Project Runway season 7.
The first looks to grace the runway were for the little ones, an obvious homage to the back-to-school season. Then we saw looks ranging the gamut from over-the-top graphically printed dresses and tutus paired with bustiers to resort-wear styled linen outfits in all white and all black.
There was also musical entertainment from upcoming artist Jimmie Reign who sang a couple of tunes from her album Pretty Girl.
The show closed with a presentation of mens’ suits.
Participating designers and stores included Ms. Bellezza Jewelry, Daniel Sudar, Picky Studio, Prima Jiva, Justin Jamison, Jill Alexander Designs, abr.es.ibm, Forever 21, Oxford Way Tailoring, Cape Ardor, and G82 Designs.
Proceeds from the event will benefit several non-profit organizations including Until There’s A Cure, an organization committed to raising money to help find a cure for aids; Fashion Group International (San Francisco), a group of fashion professionals dedicated to supporting local fashion and emerging designers; and Inner City Youth Sports, a grass roots organizations that helps inner city children develop life skills through the participation in competitive sports.
