San Francisco — Tuesday night was an exciting, fashionable evening at Infusion Lounge where Melange Productions Inc. had their launch party and held a fashion show with proceeds benefitting The Bay Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to “protecting, restoring, and inspiring conservation of the San Francisco Bay and its watershed — from the Sierra to the sea.”

Founded in 2010 as a fashion entertainment company, Melange integrates a socially conscious initiative into the celebration of diversity as part of its mission. The event featured a fashion show, where models of different ages, ethnic backgrounds and body types graced the runway, exhibiting Melange’s mission to make high-end fashion more accessible to consumers and ultimately transforming the relationship between the public and the fashion industry.

This fashion event featured designs by Prima JivaDanielle Pettee, and Alley Collection, who showcased their latest collections; from eco-friendly inspired garments and metallic-dyed, colorful dresses to tautly tailored menswear. I saw everything in the color palette ranging from earthy colors to vibrant reds and purples.

At the end of the event I had a chance to have a little chat with one of the designers, Danielle Pettee. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised with the collection that she presented; it definitely shows her evolution as a designer, or “dressmaker” as she describes herself. It was refreshing to see such a colorful collection and mixture of handmade fabrics.

Her “Spotter Dye” collection embraces San Francisco as the main source of her inspiration. Her fabrics are an eclectic combination of colors, shapes, and textures. After two years in the business, Danielle’s motto, “I am a romantic at heart,” is glaringly apparent in her designs. Her tailor-made dresses have an edgy touch that puts her work in that unique level of creativity and innovation that not all designers are able to achieve.
