San Francisco — Last night Polyvore, the tech-meets-fashion website, hosted their first meet up at The Box SF. The ambience was spectacular and the guests ranged from local bloggers and retailers to fashion insiders and designers including Christopher Collins from Project Runway season eight.
The event kicked off with Nadia Hussain, the Community Manager for Polyvore, delivering a presentation that included images of the first sets she ever created on Polyvore, as well as the first sets created by Polyvore founders Pasha Sadri, Jianing Hu, and Gwangwei Yuan.
During the presentation, an upcoming contest was revealed, which will be announced Monday on Polyvore.com. The contest will consist of visitors designing a handbag for a designer who will judge the contest, produce the winning design, and feature it at fashion week. Although the identity of the designer was kept top secret, it was revealed to be a “her.”
While mixing and mingling with the eclectic mix of guests and Polyvorers, I had an opportunity to chat with a few including Katie Hintz of Thefeast.com, a new lifestyle and culture website from NBC, as well as Polyvore design strategy consultant Koshi, who assisted with the company’s redesign, and was nice enough to give me some technical advice buidling sets.
Lady Amherst pendant necklace in gold, $78, kylerdesigns.com. This design in black and gold was in the swag bag.
And, to chicly cap off the evening festivities, Polyvore presented every guest a swag bag filled with goodies including Mod Cloth and Kyler Eco Jewelry, whose eco-chic designs have been spotted on celebs including Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Cameron Diaz, and Eva Longoria.
It was definitely a night to remember. I can’t wait for their next meet up!
