Roberto Cavalli Does H&M

Roberto Cavalli Does H&M

November 20071740Views

Roberto Cavalli may have outed JLo’s baby bump (for recent performances he designed pieces that cleverly masked and accomodated her growing belly), but Cavalli has long kept his stylish duds on the down low (obtainably so), reserved for the poshest of celebrity, socialite and VIP clients.

On a recent path to dress the masses (you know, peeps like you and me) he has opted to join the ranks of other high-brow designers like Isaac Mizrahi and Vera Wang who have designed exclusive lines for discount chains, Target and Kohl’s respectively. Known for his love of animal prints, Cavailli has stitched an affordable line for H&M including pieces reminiscent of his exquisite Italian-made garments worn by the likes of Jennifer lopez and Scarlett Johansson.

The line launched at H&M in Rome and made it’s U.S. debut this past Thursday, boasting an impressive collection of glamorous gowns, tailored suits and classic trenches. Check out a few pieces from the line below and the complete collection at hm.com.

  • This tailored white suit is Irresistible — a single button jacket with wide satin lapels paired with ruffled tuxedo shirt and flat panel trousers.

  • The chic look of the black and white leopard print blouse — made on a tuxedo style — is perfect with the trouser-cut black “short shorts” (caution: must be quite lithe to pull these off).

  • This beaded cocktail dress is amazing and appears to be a replica of a similar dress from his Spring 2004 collection, spotted on celebutantes like Scarlett Johansson at the 2004 Brit Awards and Britney Spears at the 2004 NRJ Music Awards in Cannes, France.

  • This tuxedo mini dress is just right as a cocktail dress or paired with tights and high-rise, stove-pipe boots.

  • The trench is such a staple this season and this satin version is sleek and chic. Wear it alone or atop a barely-there mini. The leopard print adds a wild flirty element.

  • This floor-length, animal print spaghetti-strap gown is classic Cavalli. This exotic look is prevalent in his off-couture line.
