Haute Off the Press: See Tiger Roar

Haute Off the Press: See Tiger Roar

Is it just me or does Tiger Woods appear a little rough around the edges on the cover of the February issue of Vanity Fair — shot by none other than famed photog Annie Leibovitz? The headlines read, “TIGER Raw, Never Before Seen Photos!” and “The Mystery of a Sports Superstar We Thought We Knew.”

I mean really, we have become accustomed to the mild-mannered tennis prodigy fashioned in old school preppy gear like mesh polos and creased khakis. And this happens — is this the stance of a Tiger ready to strike?

Who isn’t aware of Tiger’s recent relationship(s) faux pas, which had the media and golf loyalists in an uproar and catapulted his career and marriage into a media frenzy? But, is this the way his PR people plan to “clean up” his soiled image, by making him look like a convict in the prison yard pumping iron? What is he trying to say, better yet, what the heck was he thinking?

Though, I’ve never been a fan of Tiger or followed his career, a part of me still grieves for that clean cut image the name Tiger Woods once evoked. Je suis très désolé — sigh.
