Movie Brief: London Has Fallen

Movie Brief: London Has Fallen

March 20162130Views

Secret service agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) returns to the big screen protecting the President of the United States (Aaron Eckhart) in London Has Fallen. We first saw him in this role in Olympus Has Fallen (2013).

He reprises his role along with co-stars Morgan Freeman as the Vice President and Angela Basset as Director of the United States Secret Service.

If you are looking for an action-packed film full of explosions, this film delivers in spades. The film opens with a predictable plot that sets POTUS on the path to be targeted by a vengeful terrorist bent on settling the score after his family is killed in a military attack. In this film, Mike is married and has a baby on the way, which certainly sets the tone of foreboding. On my mind almost instantly was whether his family will be the target of the terrorists’ get-even campaign. But the course the film opts for is a high-speed chase through the streets, and air, of London.

What makes this film engaging are the twist and turns that make you question where it all will lead, and then there is an unexpected death (but no spoilers here). For a little fun and entertainment this weekend, you just might want to put this film on your radar.
