Global — The Lucky One starring Zac Efron (High School Musical) is based upon a novel from Nicholas Sparks, who also wrote "A Walk to Remember," "The Notebook," and "Dear John." The romantic drama is the quintessential chic flick; there's the beautiful yet unassuming damsel in distress and the charming, but mysterious drifter, who is destined to be her knight in shining armor. Of course, there's also a host of problems to test them including a meddling ex husband and deep-seeded emotional trauma.

The premise of this story surrounds Logan, a U.S. Marine who while in military battle discovers a photo of a woman (Taylor Schilling), whom he does not know, lost by one of his fellow soldiers. His attempt to find its owner fails and once released from duty he realizes he can't cope in the 'real world' and sets out to find the unknown woman in the picture, believing she saved his life. At first meeting Logan is drawn to Beth (the woman in the photo), and is unable to admit what brought him to her small town. He unwittingly lands a job working for her and her spirited mother Ellie (Blythe Danner) at their dog kennel.

But what sets this movie apart from its similar counterparts is familiarity. There is a realism that is very easy to imagine in "real life," if not for oursleves, someone close to us. Throughout the movie their is levity, just enough to soften the serious nature of the film. The chemistry between the characters is believable especially between Logan and Beth's son Ben (Riley Thomas Stewart).
It's definitely a flick I suggest catching with your BFFs or BF. It's a heartwarming tear-jerker, but it's sure to make you smile too.
