I Am Number Four, adapted from a book, stars Alex Pettyfer as ‘John Smith’ (Alex Pettyfer), a super-powered alien from another planet whose destiny has him on the run. But he’s not alone, there are others like him, numbered one to nine, and that’s the order they’re being targeted for elimination by evil-doers from their destroyed planet Lorien. Produced by Michael Bay and directed by D.J. Caruso, this fantasy flick is heavy on the action and easy on the eyes.
Here are my top 10 reasons to see this movie:
- Michael Bay delivers pulse-racing action, as usual.
- Alex Pettyfer performs his own stunts, and there are plenty; there’s a to-die-for back flip off of a cliff.
- A decently developed story line that makes you ask, “What about number five?”
- Great chemistry among the actors, especially Pettyfer’s character and his guardian Henri played by Timothy Olyphant.
- The female leads are strong, smart, and independent!
- Delish eyecandy in Alex Pettyfer (watch my video interview), Timothy Olyphant too, if you like the older rugged mature type.
- A version of man’s best friend that makes Cujo look like Lassie.
- A heart-fluttering, but cliche, love story between John and Sarah played by Dianna Agron of ‘Glee’; it’s so befitting the month of love.
- The soundtrack has a collection of cool beats.
- There will be a sequel!
