Movie Brief: Top 5 Reasons To Go See Captain America

Movie Brief: Top 5 Reasons To Go See Captain America

Admittedly, I was overly excited to see Captain America: The First Avenger, because let’s be honest, Chris Evans is uber hot in this film as Captain America a.k.a. Steve Rogers. Rogers transforms from a kind-hearted weakling to a courageous muscle-infused hero. What girl wouldn’t be in awe over that?

I was also pleasantly surprised with the storyline in this movie. I am not particularly a fan of comic books, so I am usually not up on the back story before watching a Marvel comic adapted film. However, this plot was refreshing and action-filled.

When a film is adapted from a comic book, the story line is pretty much hand delivered. What makes it work, or not, is how well it is written for film and adapted for modern times. That’s where I believe this film excels. It will take you back in time to an unceremonious era in history when the Nazis wreaked havoc. Not to give too much away, but it is literally a blast from the past.

Of course, the story becomes highly fictionalized when Captain America’s arch enemy Red Skull, leader of the evil HYDRA organization, is introduced and is obsessed with taking over the world (so typical of a villain). It’s just the right mix to entertain you; a charming hero, a to-die-for love story, high-impact action, and the Big Apple as a back drop, at least for most of the film.

Overall, what makes this film a winner for me is that Steve Rogers has heart and courage (even before he beefs up). Despite all his ailments and the hard knocks dealt him in life, Rogers stays true to himself and remains positive about life. Is it cliché? Maybe, but nonetheless it leaves you with a good feeling.

Here are my top 3 reasons to catch this flick with your boyfriend or BFFs:

5. Hayley Atwell is no wall flower as officer Peggy Carter and love interest to Captain America.

4. The fabulous retro fashions worn by Captain America’s love interest, Peggy Carter.

3. Stanley Tucci is perfect as Dr. Abraham Erskine, the man who transforms Rogers into Captain America.

2. Tommy Lee Jones adds just the right amount of levity to keep Captain America grounded.

1. Chris Evans goes from tiny man to mighty man in milliseconds. A man in uniform is always hard to resist!
