As an amateur shutterbug, still learning all the photographer lingo, I’ve been on the hunt for a digital camera — I’ve been using film, a Nikon 2000 that my mom bought when I was in elementary school. I’ve been thinking about upgrading to a Nikon D200, but since I still consider myself in the kiddy pool of photography, I wasn’t going to rule out a snap and shoot either.
I was online the other day and came across the Olympus Stylus 790 SW (stylus is Latin for style) — this camera is ready for just about everything from movie making to underwater picture taking, I know there’s more, but I’m still figuring it out.
For about $300 this digital camera comes in an array of colors including silver, black, blue, orange and green (that’s what I got thanks to grandmother), and is worth the plunge. Specs include:
-
7.1 mega pixels
-
3X optical zoom
-
2.5” HyperCrystal LCD screen
-
Shockproof up to five feet
-
Waterproof up to 10 feet
-
Freezeproof up to 14 degrees
-
Face detection (no more blurry expressions)
Oh yeah, don’t forget to get a memory card, about $55.
