What’s Hot In the City: Fashion Feud Round 2

San Francisco — Last night I checked out an event that has been on my radar for quite some time called Fashion Feud Round 2. The event, sponsored by San Francisco Fashion and Merchants Alliance (SFFAMA), has a similar premise to Project Runway, but in this version, two designers — Chrystine Druge and Krisztina Lazar — had one hour to design an outfit (with textiles from Mood Fabric in New York) that a model donned and showed off to the anticipating crowd. The event was judged by local designer Laura Robblee of Alley Collection and blogger Adelle McElveen of Fashionista Lab.

But the event had even more to offer than a battle between designers. While waiting for the designers to finish their masterpieces, guests could peruse the venue, Rickshaw Stop, and visit vendors including Revelation By Me, a collection of versatile dresses and tops designed by two BFFs, Mydra Monasterial and Eloissa Serrano. Many of their looks were reversible and featured geometric patterns in vibrant colors as well as black and white. Also on hand were accessory vendors such as Paola Loves To Shop, which carries a selection of eyewear and fashion jewelry. There also was Ms. Bellezza jewelry, you’ve heard me mention this line before. Their handmade bijoux showcased is made mostly of Swarovski crystals.

If that weren’t enough to keep guests busy, ladies could get touchups and makeovers from hair stylist and makeup artist Sarah Frankel. I was tempted to have a little touchup myself, but before I knew it, the countdown for the design challenge was on and a winner was announced. Druge’s design was a two-piece ensemble including a white and blue polka dot halter with yellow bow tie in the back paired with a navy slim-fitting skirt. The winning design created by Lazar was a navy halter style dress trimmed in white and blue polka dot fabric swatches and yellow ribbon embellishments, cut in a fishtail hem and belted.
