GLOBAL — October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. How befitting that one of the month's birthstone gems (along with opal) is pink tourmaline. Pink is also the color used to signify and pay homage to all who have battled breast cancer. This month we'll see pink paraphernalia in a range of products from fashion to beauty.
In recognition of this passionate cause, one of my new favorite beauty lines, Julep, has a new nail color called "Edith" created in honor of the Edith Sanford Breast Cancer Foundation. The nail color is a cherry blossom pink crème with holographic glitter and will be sold exclusively on julep.com later this month.
Phoenix Fashion Week kicks off the first week in October at Talking Stick Resort featuring a bevy of designers from LA to Dubai presenting collections running the gamut from swimwear to evening gowns, and I have interviews with designers Efua Mensah-Brown of Proverbs by Efua and Rachel Wagner of Doux Belle.
On the entertainment side of things, this is the month for horror films, so you might want to put "Carrie" on your radar. The remake of the 1976 classic stars Chlöe Grace Moretz and is set to hit the big screen on Friday, October 18th, and we've got an interview with director Kimberly Peirce!
I'm also excited to add the TV series "Scandal" to my radar starring one of my favorite actresses, Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope, a crisis management specialist who fixes images and saves careers of the Washington D.C. elite, including her married boyfriend, the President of the United States – it's absolutely scandalous. Since I was two seasons behind – season 3 kicks off on Thursday, October 3rd – I spent the last few days glued to my MacBook (the show is so addictive) catching up on all the lies, betrayal, and of course, fashpionage (I so love Olivia's wardrobe). Stay tuned because I'll be sharing my predictions on the upcoming season later this week.
