If you’re familiar with fragrances from Jean-Paul Gaultier, Giorgio Armani, or Yves Saint Laurent, then more than likely you’ve had the opportunity to smell the fragrant works of perfumer Francis Kurkdjian. So just imagine my delight when I was tasked with the mission to try out the French perfumer’s latest creation – À la rose Eau de Parfum – courtesy of the company. As a sartorial sleuth, It’s important to have a signature scent. For me, selecting the perfect perfume is like meeting your soul mate; there needs to be great chemistry and longevity.
After a week of wearing the À la rose fragrance, I’m pleased to say it passed my rigorous test. I love how the scent settles on my skin and there’s a lingering fresh floral aroma throughout the day. I typically avoid rose fragrances because they often have an antiquated smell. But the À la rose fragrance is a modern twist with fruity notes.
The top notes are composed of two varieties of roses: Centifolia from Grasse and Damascena from Bulgaria, blended with pear and lychee. Other top notes include orange with heart notes of violet and magnolia, cedar and musk. It’s in a square bottle to die for (it now has a spot on my vanity) and definitely gets my seal of approval!
