Today, my mom and I had our routine girl’s day out, which envolves a little munching, a little shopping, and just a bit of gossip.
Every time we venture out to the mall or a boutique, it reminds me of how much fun it was to watch my mom primp when I was a little girl — applying her pretty plum-hued lipstick or wrapping her hair in a French twist, it’s all just so girly.
First we went to my mom’s favorite counter, Lancôme, for her, there’s no other beauty line. from toner to moisturizer, this is my mom’s brand of choice.
She picked up her moisturizer (which she recently ran out of), Bienfait Multi-Vital SPF 30 Cream, $43. She tells me she loves it because it keeps her skin “silky smooth” and that’s no lie because my mom has nary a wrinkle on her 50+ face. Now, I don’t know if I will give Lancôme all the credit, I’m sure genes play a role too, at least I hope so!
This moisturizer is chock full of goodness with Vitamin E, C and B5. And with sunscreen protection, it has the seal of approval from the Skin Cancer Foundation.
While my mom was sticking with her tried and true moisturizer, I decided to try something new.
I really am not a fan of foundation. I don’t like the heavy cakey feel of it, nor do I like the leftover residue around the collar.
But as I casually strolled by the Benefit counter, something caught my eye. It was a display of slender tubes that I first thought to be concealer, until the sales girl told me it was a foundation stick, but I was still intrigued. Next thing I know, Christine (sales girl), was sitting me on a stool, moisturizing my face and applying Play Sticks, $32, a 3-in-1 concealer, foundation and powder, on my cheek.
Instantly, I loved it. The color was a perfect match and the texture was light, almost non-existent, I was in beauty heaven, needless to say, I was sold.
This foundation is enriched with green tea, chamomile and gingko biloba. It’s a sheer delight.
