There’s something about sporting a bold red lip that makes you pop. You can forget the mascara, forgo the blush, or skip foundation, but as soon as you paint your pout a crimson hue, it feels like you’re ready for anything! I’m always on the hunt to uncover new red lipsticks. I’ve come across a couple that I’m really loving including Pixi tinted Briliance balm in Rosy Red, $16, and Tom Ford Jasmine Rouge Lip Collection in ‘Diabolique’, $50. But the sartorial sleuth in me decided to reach out to a few of my fellow contributors at luckymag.com and followers on Twitter, to get the scoop on the red lip color that they’re loving.
Diane Aiello, a stylist who’s worked with companies such as Gucci, Nike, and Levi’s and been featured in magazines such as Allure, Elle, and Vanity Fair, is a fan of a few brands when it comes to red lipstick including Tom Ford, Make Up For Ever, and Lipstick Queen. MAC Cosmetics red lip colors are a fave among stylists including Inez and Liz of The Sol Sisters, Jazelle of Prado not Prada is a fan of MAC Lipstick in Russian Red, $15; Coco of Millennielle who prefers MAC ‘Retro Matte’ Lipstick in Ruby Woo, $15. Brittany of Piece Love and Sole favors MAC ‘Pro Longwear’ Lipglass in Driven by Love, $20, a deep bluish red, and MAC Lipstick in Lady Danger, $15, which she describes as a bright red with a hint of orange.
Other red lip color shout outs included Cassie of Anything You Buy I Can Buy Cheaper, who admits to not being a red lipstick fan except for Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Best Red, $5.49 (gold tube above right). Kate of Stilletoed to Steeltoed is a fan of Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl, $25, and says she’s been “loving the red lip lately.”
