Poshinality Introduces Nail Polish With Personality

Poshinality Introduces Nail Polish With Personality

September 20141981Views

Just when we thought beauty couldn’t get any more personal, along comes a nail polish line that not only delivers color, but personality too. A new brand called Poshinality – a merger of the words polish and personality – is creating a line of polish with personality-inspired colors. With monikers like “Go Getter” and “Adventure Seeker” and hues such as crimson red and forest green, the combination of polish and personality is a match made in heaven. But if you think that’s all there is to this beauty brand, you’d be wrong, because not only are they matching nail color to personality characteristics, they’re also vegan-free, which mean it’s not tested on animals or contain animal ingredients. They’ve also nixed notoriously bad ingredients, excluding formaldehyde, toulene, DBP, formaldehyde resin, and camphor. In addition, the LA-based brand donates a portion of its revenue to social causes working towards change in areas such as domestic violence and human trafficking. I recently caught up with founder Elizabeth Curry to get more intel on the emerging brand.

Why nail polish with personality-themed names?

I thought it would be unique to create a high-quality, eco-friendly brand that celebrates individuality and create colors that highlight a variety of personalities and styles of fashion, naming all colors in the line after them to celebrate our diversity of style.

Poshinality-TomboyHow do you select the colors and names?

Our whole line is based on the most famed personalities and celebrated styles so we focus on this aspect first and determine based on color theory research and trends, what best represent each color.

Which chemicals should consumers void when shopping for polish?

Formaldehyde, Toulene, DBP, Formaldehyde Resin, and Camphor … because exposure to them can cause detrimental effects to your health from allergies to dizziness to birth defects and more.

What are your favorite colors in the line?

Tomboy” (above) is my absolute favorite color because it’s a blue that you don’t often see. I am also in love with “Inspirational,” “Bohemian” and “Conservative” because they are neutrals and for me, neutrals give my nails a natural yet classy look.

If you could paint the nails of anyone past or present, who would it be?

I would have to say Michelle Obama because while she is FLOTUS, she is perhaps the most diversified yet; she’s extremely classy and stylish when she needs to be but she’s not so rigid in style that she can’t rock an off the shoulder gown or sleeveless top which both show her amazing arms or a t-shirt when she promoting her health initiatives to schools. Like her style, I think she would wear (has worn) a variety of nail colours that you traditionally don’t see on a first lady and it’s what sets her apart.

Poshinality-BubblyPick a Poshinality for Cara Delevingne, Lupita Nyong’o, and Selena Gomez:

  • Cara Delevingne: “Bohemian” because it’s an amazing tan neutral and I think that she does natural skin-tone makeup extremely well.
  • Lupita Nyong’o: “Open-Minded” because it’s a great pop color and contrast for her skin tone.
  • Selena Gomez: “Bubbly” (right) would work well with her olive tone and also compliments her young, fun nature.
