It was a winning night at the 86th Annual Academy Awards for the film 12 Years A Slave. Golden statues were awarded in the categories of Best Picture for producers Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Steve McQueen and Anthony Katagas; Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Lupita Nyong’o; and Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay) for John Ridley. But the night truly belonged to Nyong’o who dazzled in a pale blue Prada gown, which she said was a creation between herself, Prada, and her stylist. The inspiration was a glass of bubbly, and oh did she sparkle.

During her acceptance speech, Nyong’o delivered another touching acceptance speech. “It doesn’t escape me for one moment that so much joy in my life is thanks to so much pain in someone else’s,” she said. “When I look down at this golden statue, may it remind me and every little child that no matter where you’re from your dreams are valid.” When asked in a backstage interview about her acting talent, stylish fashion, and poised demeanor she credited her parents: “I have phenomenal parents. My father is famous in his own right, has done amazing things for our country, Kenya, and my mother, too. She’s a trailblazer. She’s a pioneer.”
Beautiful, intelligent, and humble. Lupita is definitely a girl who’s got it all.
