Maleficent Co-Star May Be A Famous Lil’ Sis But Now She’s Blazing Her Own Trail
GLOBAL — Maleficent has hit the big screen starring Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning. In case the latter name escapes you – or you’ve been hiding out on a top secret mission for the past decade – Elle Fanning is the little sister of Dakota Fanning, who’s successfully worked her way up the Hollywood ladder in films such as Uptown Girls, War of the Worlds, and The Twilight Saga films. Elle fanning, who turned 16 this past april, landed her first gig at a mere two in a small part as the younger version of Dakota in I Am Sam (2001).
Now Elle, who’s appeared in more than two dozen movies, is blazing her own trail and has segued into larger roles –sans sister – such as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008), Somewhere (2010), and the widely acclaimed Ginger & Rosa (2012).
Fast forward two years and now she’s sharing the screen with Jolie in Maleficent as Princess Aurora, a.k.a. Sleeping Beauty, in a dark adaption of Charles Perrault‘s French fairy tale about a good princess cursed by an evil fairy in an enchanted forest. But the big screen isn’t this starlet’s only claim to fame, she’s also appeared as the face of Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2014 ads along side Lupita Nyong’o and Elizabeth Olsen – sister act to the Olsen twins – and has recently covered myriad magazines including Interview (May), Marie Claire (May), and Teen Vogue (June/July).
In her magazine interviews, the young actress reveals her love for French fries and Milky Ways, angst about taking her driving test, dreams of becoming a ballerina – had she not caught the acting bug, and an indecisiveness about where to go to college. For a moment it’s almost easy to mistake her for any other teen, but this is no ordinary teenager. Where many teen-somethings are trying to ‘fit in’ with their peers, Fanning is comfortable doing the opposite, as she illustrated by a statement in Marie Claire, “When it comes to what I wear, I always try to choose something no one’s seen before. I at least try to create a look that’s interesting, even if someone hates it!”
Now that’s a sister act worth following!
