rench-born photographer Antoine Tempé, who is known for his shots of African dancers and artists, has created an intriguing collection called Remixing Hollywood. In this collection, Tempé reimagines iconic scenes from famous films such as Psycho, Thelma and Louise, and The Matrix. Replacing the actresses from the film are women of color, who artistically capture the essence of the original image, but with a modern flare. My favorite from the collection is a replica of the famous Breakfast at Tiffany’s publicity shot, in which Audrey Hepburn poses as Holly Golightly, sitting in what appears a lavish restaurant. Tempé’s version is entitled “Breakfast at ONOMO’s” and is shot at the Hôtel Onomo Dakar Airport. The model Aminata wears a little white dress, which is a stark contrast to Audrey’s little black dress, yet still, it’s a striking photo. Holly Golightly as a black woman – imagine that!
