What young woman hasn’t fantasized about tossing their hat in the air as celebration of their independence and success? Thanks to actress Mary Tyler Moore and the opening credits of her self-titled sitcom, it will forever be etched in our memories as the anthem of every young woman coming into her own during the 70s, even today. “The Mary Tyler Moore” theme will undoubtedly be her swan song.
Huffington Post reported that the iconic television actress died today in a Connecticut hospital at the age of 80. While many may remember her as the lovely Laura Petrie on “The Dick Van Dyke Show” in the 60s, with her Jackie-esque ‘do and fashionable style in the Kennedy era–Moore is probably more revered for her role as the quick-witted news producer Mary Richards.
